Shavings Specification

Shavings are a by-product. Graded material accumulates during grading of wood chips as material from shaking or as chip pins. Shavings and graded material are generated from hard wood and soft wood. They are used for energy production.

Specifications:
Free from pesticides and impregnation
Free from swarf
No wood pieces or saw mill waste
Free from impurities of any kind

TOLERANCE AND REJECTION LIMITS
Toxic substances: Delivery will be rejected if discoloration due to impregnation is detected, or if odor indicates treatment with pesticides or other toxic substances.
Impurities: These are
Soil, dirt, stones. No tolerance limit. Deduction as reject (ballast). 10 % and above lead to classification as reject (ballast) and will not be paid for.
Plastics and metals of any kind. No tolerance limit. A proportion of 1% leads to rejection of the delivery (ballast).
Addition of ice and snow is not permitted. 20% and above lead to classification as reject (ballast) and will not be paid for.
Swarf: No tolerance limit. Deduction as reject (ballast). 5% and above lead to classification of the delivery as reject and will not be paid for.
Wood pieces or saw mill waste: No tolerance limit. Deduction as reject (ballast). 5% and above lead to classification of the delivery as reject and will not be paid for.
